How to make the wild blueberry lemon coconut smoothie?

As I have mentioned in the introduction, this smoothie is fairly straightforward to make. In fact, any smoothie recipe is simple to create.

Now, if you’re going to utilize fresh ingredients, you should wash them first in cold running water.

A good rule of thumb for using the blender is to start with the liquid base. So, pour in the coconut water into the pitcher. 

Here’s the thing:

Before extracting the lemon juice, you should zest it first. I find it easier that way.

After the lemon, you can add the other soft ingredients—banana and wild blueberry. If it were a frozen ingredient, it should be on top.

Finally, secure the lid and blend for 45 seconds to 1 minute until smooth. If your blender has a smoothie preset, use that instead. 

Pro tip: For a genuinely smooth smoothie, use a high-powered machine like a Vitamix blender.

Tips and Substitutions

If you’re going to blend in the chia seeds, place it while the blender is in operation. This will prevent it from scattering and sticking to the sides which won’t get blended.

You can also garnish it (along with some zest) on the wild blueberry lemon coconut smoothie. Doing so will also improve its aesthetic appeal.

Coconut water can be switched with coconut milk. You see, coconut water has a more profound effect on the smoothie, hence I chose that for this recipe.

As per usual, you can use any citrus fruit to replace the lemon.

Here’s the deal:

Banana is the natural sweetener and thickener for the wild blueberry lemon coconut smoothie. Chia seeds also act as the thickening agent, so you can substitute the banana with other sweet fruit of your choice.

Also, if you won’t use any frozen ingredients, you can always add ice to make it chilly. Just note that it might dilute the flavor a bit.
