In our fast-paced world, overnight oats are simply brilliant. This particular variation, Cherry Almond Overnight Oats, is a fantastic breakfast meal.
Better yet?
You can prepare it the day before, so you can simply grab and go. More importantly, it won’t even take that much time to put it together.
With that said, let’s make it!
How to make the Cherry Almond Overnight Oats? (And tips)
What’s really great about the Cherry Almond Overnight Oats is that it can be as simple as adding all the ingredients, mixing, and chilling. That’s all there is to it.
Now:
If you’re making more than one portion, you can use a bowl. This will result in a more straightforward process than having to portion each jar and mix separately. You can portion it after mixing or in the morning.
Oh, and don’t forget to cover it with an airtight lid or saran wrap.
Here’s more:
You can also decorate it. See image on the right:
Essentially, you add layers of different constituents. And, you can also garnish the fresh fruits and nuts on top. Then, before eating, you can either mix it all together or not; it’s more of a preference, really.
In other words, even with just one particular recipe, there’s already so much you can do to make it more exciting:
- Mix in almond butter (the normal)
- Don’t mix the almond butter
- Don’t mix the cherries and slivered almonds
- Mix altogether but still decorate it with a separate portion of almond butter and cherries and slivered almonds.
Substitutions
Ideally, you should use traditional rolled oats for the cherry almond overnight oats. You can still use the quick oats, obviously. However, it tends to be mushier than the rolled oats.
As for the maple syrup, you can use other thick sweeteners such as honey. Also, you can certainly use other types of milk for this recipe.
Here’s the deal:
If you have almonds (roasted or raw) on hand and no slivered ones, you don’t have to trouble yourself with buying slivered almonds. The amount needed isn’t that crazy, so you can simply slice up some of your almonds.
For a more accessible alternative, you can also crush it. Just make sure it doesn’t end up too crushed.
